This is the patented Chinese medicine version of Xiaochaihu Decoction from "Treatise on Febrile Diseases." It is widely used, most commonly for colds caused by wind-cold. Its effects are to relieve the exterior and clear heat, soothe the liver, and harmonize the stomach. Symptoms include alternating chills and fever (feeling cold one moment and hot the next), fullness and discomfort in the chest and hypochondriac region, loss of appetite, irritability and nausea, bitter taste in the mouth, and dry throat.
